Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do with my furniture, appliances & vehicles prior to installation?

The customer is responsible for removing and replacing all furniture, appliances and vehicles from the surface to be coated, unless prior arrangements are made.

How long should I turn off my sprinklers?

For outdoor applications, the customer must turn off all automatic sprinklers during installation and for twenty-four (24) hours following completion of the work.

How long should I expect odors from my new installation?

The products used may produce a strong odor during application. In enclosed areas like garages, the odors may persist for up to seventy-two (72) hours following application. People sensitive to the odors should avoid the project area for at least several hours.

What is the curing time for my installation?

Foot traffic on the coating should be avoided for twenty-four (24) hours following completion of the application. Vehicles should not drive or park on the coated surface for at least five (5) days. Humid weather conditions will lengthen the curing time of your coating.

My installation's surface doesn't appear 100% consistent. Is this normal?

Some trowel marks and texture variations are normal in the application of our coating products. These trowel marks and texture variations are an inherent characteristic of the application of the coating and do not constitute defects in the coating material or application.

Will my concrete coatings installation affect drainage in the application area?

The coatings do not change the grade of the existing substrate. Unless indicated in the proposal and contract, application of the coating will not eliminate standing water or other drainage problems on the coated surface.

What do I do about cracks appearing in existing joints?

Due to climate conditions, uncertain substrate and ground movement, some cracking along joints and existing cracks in the substrate will develop after application. Prior to coating application, joints and cracks will be filled to improve the appearance of the coated surface. No filled crack or joint is covered as a warranty item by Pac West Coatings, and no warranty with regard to filled joints or substantial cracks is intended or implied.

How do I clean and maintain my new Pac West Coatings installation?

It is recommended that a mild mixture of ammonia and water be used to clean the new coating. A detergent product may be needed for stubborn stains. The use of organic solvents, lacquer, thinner, etc. and abrasive pads should be avoided and may void the product warranty. Due to the high alkalinity of local water, mineral deposits may form on the surface. Most coating systems require periodic cleaning and/or sealing. This cleaning and/or sealing are neither part of this contract nor covered in any way by warranty.
